Palm types watering
With Wickplants, this becomes much easier. How? With the unique watering system of Wickplants, your Palm species never gets too much or too little water. The plant takes care of itself. The Palm species is equipped with a wick. When the houseplant is thirsty, it draws its water from the water reservoir by means of the wick. So you never have to worry about the Palm needing more water in summer than in winter. All you have to do is refill the water reservoir. When should I refill the water tank? When the red bar in the water meter starts to drop down, the water reservoir needs refilling. This way, your Palm gets the right amount of water, which it decides for itself!
Location of Palm types
What else should I do to keep my Palm beautiful for as long as possible? With Wickplants, the right location is very important to enjoy your new houseplant for a long time. Watering is a thing of the past, but it needs to be in the right spot. What is the right spot for my Palm? The different Palm species prefer a spot with plenty of daylight, but without direct sunlight. Most palms don't like being directly in front of a window. To keep your palm beautiful for as long as possible, it needs 3 to 5 hours of light a day. If the palm develops yellow leaves, this is a sign of too much direct sunlight. Make sure you then move your Palm to a place with less direct sunlight. If the palm hasn't given new leaves for a while, the palm is in a place with too little light. Then make sure to place the Palm in a somewhat lighter spot. This will make the Palm even fuller and keep it beautiful for longer!
Palm types nutrition
The soil of the Palm contains nutrients. After 12 weeks, the Palm often uses up these nutrients. After this period, the Palm will enjoy getting some nutrition. Take care! Only give the Palm some extra nutrition in spring and summer! In autumn and winter, the Palm is in a dormant state. Then extra nutrition can even be harmful for this houseplant. So only give the Palm extra food in spring and summer!
Are palm types poisonous?
This depends on the type of palm. The Dypsis Lusescens (Areca Palm), Howea Forsteriana (Kentia Palm) and Caryota Mitis (Fishtail Palm) are not poisonous. Zamioculcas and Yucca Elephantipes are mildly toxic if ingested. So be careful which palm species you buy if you have pets and small children. In any case, make sure they cannot consume the Zamioculcas and Yucca Elephantipes!
