The Alocasia Portodora will immediately attract attention in any room with its fresh green, frayed leaves. This unique houseplant is nicknamed "Elephant Ear" because of the shape of the leaf which resembles an elephant's ear. Originally, this Alocasia comes from the tropical jungles of Southeast Asia. This Alocasia Portodora is always provided with a wick at Wickplants!
This beautiful houseplant needs a bright spot without direct sunlight. In these conditions the Elephant Ear will become a beautiful healthy plant. Should it happen that the plant grows toward the light, it will not receive enough light. In this case, move the plant to a slightly lighter location. It is possible that the leaves will burn, if you place the plant in direct sunlight.
The sap of the Alocasia can cause irritation on the skin. Because of this, we do not recommend consuming the Elephant ear. Also, watch out with small children and pets. However, the leaves of the Alocasia Portodora are used in various dishes, but this should be done properly.
